Shamrock, TX – August 10, 2023 – Shamrock Family Care Clinic is thrilled to announce the arrival of Dr. Wesley Nickens, a distinguished physician with deep roots in the Panhandle region of Texas. Dr. Nickens will be joining the clinic on September 5th, 2023, to provide his expertise in patient-centered healthcare.

Dr. Nickens’ journey into medicine was inspired by his personal experiences as a patient. Dealing with allergies and asthma during his formative years, he encountered various healthcare providers. It was the compassionate care provided by some of these professionals that ignited his interest in the medical field.

With a career spanning over a decade, Dr. Nickens brings a wealth of experience to Shamrock Family Care Clinic. His professional history is marked by diverse roles that have enriched his expertise. He spent three years in Amarillo, managing his private practice while also contributing as Associate Faculty at Texas Tech. Following this, he dedicated five years to Collingsworth General Hospital in Wellington, engaging in medical services similar to the comprehensive approach he will bring to Shamrock. For the past six years, he has been based in Amarillo, providing clinical care through FMC.

Reflecting on his decision to return to the region, Dr. Nickens expressed his appreciation for the small-town lifestyle, the warmth of the community, and the unique charm of the Panhandle. Despite not having lived in Shamrock before, his strong ties to the surrounding areas make the town feel like home.

Building a solid rapport with patients is of utmost importance to Dr. Nickens. He believes in understanding a patient’s background to establish trust and create meaningful relationships. This approach, he emphasizes, leads to better patient compliance with medical recommendations and ultimately improved health outcomes.
